About This Project

Whollo is an app in which users create a “yousona”. A yousona is an AR filter that blocks your face in every post. Once you create a yousona you are assigned to a “circle” or a group of people based on your interests, for a week. These are your only friends on the app no one can add additional friends, everyone has the same amount of followers. After the week is over you receive an entirely new group of friends, but you can always revisit old groups and old connections made in groups. This cycle repeats for ten weeks(ten circles) and then you can either continue to add more or keep the amount you have. This is so everyone has the opportunity to make new friends based on their interests, which will hopefully build a community rather than a “following”.  All of the decisions made including the yousona, and lack of likes, followers and comments, is a conscious decision to reduce the effects of body and image issues, cyberbullying, social anxiety and overall build a healthy, community driven social media experience.
